Oil Painting
This course will focus on approaches and techniques for representational oil painting. Direct observation along with working from a photographic reference will be the basis for combining light, shadow, and color to create realistic paintings.

Plein Air Painting
This four-week course takes painting outside to nearby Goodstay Gardens. The class will emphasize traditional plein air painting techniques, focusing on approaches to using color for capturing the light, shadow, and form of landscapes. Individual instruction, examples and demonstrations will be used to reinforce concepts.

Beginning Oil Painting Session 1
This course will be broken up into two, five week sessions.
Session 1 will focus on fundamentals of painting. Using a direct ala prima approach, we will explore concepts of observations, using light, shadow, value and color to create representational oil painting from still-life’s and photographic reference. The emphasis will be on demonstrations and exercises designed to build your painting technique and skill.
In Session 2 (please register for this class separately), students will choose the subject matter of their paintings as we build upon fundamental concepts. Instruction will be individualized to help facilitate personal painting goals.
